Xbox Series X sold out? These are the retailers we think will have stock soon - TechRadar

rinwengi.blogspot.com

Update: Best Buy is showing as back in stock, but we're having trouble adding to the cart.  However, the pre-order button is once again live.

Xbox Series X pre-orders went live earlier today, but that first wave of stock disappeared fast. But if you missed out, don't fret as it doesn't necessarily mean you won't get your hands on a pre-order at all.

As we seen with PS5, pre-orders often come in waves, so if you missed the first wave then you can catch the second.

Below we've listed the retailers that we think will have Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S pre-order stock again soon, and who has already sold out, so you can quickly get yourself in the queue. And, if all else fails, we've listed some other options for getting your hands on an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S pre-order.

Keep an eye on our Xbox Series X pre-order page and Xbox Series S pre-order page for all the latest information.

  • Microsoft: pre-orders live now - 'configure' button not working, keep refreshing
  • Amazon: out of stock, listed as 'currently unavailable'
  • Sam's Club: listed as 'out of stock'
  • Best Buy: out of stock, listed as 'coming soon'
  • Newegg: pre-orders possibly live soon for Xbox Series X
  • Walmart: listed as 'out of stock', keep refreshing
  • GameStop: out of stock, listed as 'not available'
  • Target: out of stock, listed as 'pre-orders have sold out'

Where to pre-order the Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S - $499.99 / $299.99 at Microsoft
Microsoft seems to have sold out of both the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X, but the website doesn't explicitly say that. Instead, the 'configure now' button is grayed out, stopping you from adding any consoles to your cart. Without an explicit 'out of stock button' and considering they're Microsoft's consoles, we're expecting more stock to arrive soon.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S - $499.99 / $299.99 at Amazon
Amazon seemed to sell out pretty quickly (resulting in a lot of site crashing), but we're expecting it to have a fairly large supply of Xbox Series X pre-orders up its sleeve. The listing says 'currently unavailable' so there's a slight possibility we'll see more stock when the website has stabilized a bit. However, you'll be up against more competition here, so you'll need to be quick. View Deal

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S - $499.99 / $299.99 at Newegg
Newegg's Xbox Series X pre-orders don't seem to have gone live yet. So there's still hope that we'll see stock at this retailer soon, but it's likely to go fast.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S - $499.99 / $299.99 at Best Buy
Best Buy sold out of the Xbox Series S/X in no time. However, the site currently lists both consoles as 'coming soon' so there's a possibility we will see another wave of stock.

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S - $499.99 / $299.99 at Walmart
Walmart proved exceedingly popular Xbox Series X pre-orders - and has now listed both consoles as 'out of stock'. However, this retailer has a habit of turning pre-orders on and off again - so if you see 'sold out' messaging, or aren't able to place your order, don't give up. Keep refreshing the page... View Deal

Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: $499.99 / $299.99 at GameStop
GameStop is also listing both consoles as 'not available'. We're not sure if it'll get more stock in, but there's a slight possibility it will. It could be worth going to a brick and mortar store to check (while taking the necessary precautions to stay safe) - but we wouldn't get our hopes up.

How will I know when new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S stock is available?

If you follow our Xbox Series X pre-order page, we're committed to finding new stock for the console in the run-up to the holidays. The second we see stock at an online retailer, you'll see it on this page. It's also worth following TechRadar on Twitter – as we'll be updating our feed when stock goes live.

What to do while Xbox Series X pre-orders are sold out

Try checking in physical stores – if you feel comfortable doing so
Retailers are likely to have allocated stock for physical stores as well as online – you might get lucky depending on pre-order supplies where you are. We'd only encourage you to visit brick-and-mortar retailers if you feel comfortable and safe doing so, however.

Keep an eye on Xbox's social media channels
Though it was still a messy (understatement) first pre-order window, Microsoft has been more transparent when it comes to pre-order information. Setting the date in advance, it's been able to give potential buyers an easy overview of timings, and where to pre-order. Like so:

With Xbox Series X pre-orders sold out then, your local Xbox Twitter account is likely to keep you informed on the possibility of stock re-emerging for each console.

If the PS5 and Xbox Series X sell out, what should I buy instead?

Consider the Nintendo Switch, or its cheaper handheld-only alternative, the Nintendo Switch Lite. Both consoles are far less capable than the new machines, and they will miss out on most of the major titles coming to Xbox Series X and PS5.

But while their libraries are vastly different, the Nintendo Switch arguably has a best-in-class library of exclusive games: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and that's just a sample.

If you really want a console to play this year, and you feel certain you've missed out on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5, this is far better than picking up a PS4 and Xbox One – both of which will (obviously) shortly be replaced.
