Advance reservations for the reopening day of Disneyland are “sold out” for both single-park and parkhopper tickets, but there is still a way to get into the Anaheim theme park when it returns after an extended coronavirus closure.
The “sold out” sign hanging in front of Disneyland on reopening day comes with a very important asterisk. You can still get into the original Disney theme park on April 30 if you buy a parkhopper ticket and get an advance reservation for Disney California Adventure.

At least you can at the moment. Demand has been extraordinary for tickets and reservations for the first two months of dates at Disneyland and DCA. Fans that logged onto the Disneyland website at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 15 waited hours in a virtual queue for the privilege of purchasing tickets and making advance reservations. Many Mouseheads have been staring at a message saying their virtual wait is “more than an hour” all day long.
“We are experiencing high demand given the historic nature of the Disneyland Resort’s reopening,” according to the Disneyland website. “To deliver a strong Guest experience, we are deliberately pulsing Guests through the system and, therefore, wait times may be several hours or more depending on when you joined the queue. We still have plenty of reservation availability, and we plan to keep the system open throughout the night to accommodate the demand. Please don’t refresh and we will get you through the queue as soon as we can.”
The good news: There are still plenty of tickets and reservations left for May and June at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
The bad news: Disneyland reservations for single-day and parkhoppers are sold out for April 30 and May 1. The semi-good news: You can still get DCA parkhopper tickets and reservations for those dates. Parkhopper tickets allow visitors to switch to the other park starting at 1 p.m. That means those with DCA parkhopper reservations for April 30 and May 1 can head over to Disneyland after 1 p.m. on those days.
But don’t expect those DCA parkhopper reservations for reopening day to last too long. The same goes for weekend dates. Those are expected to go next. At the moment, reservations for all weekend dates are still available for both Disneyland and DCA.

More good news: Disney California Adventure tickets are still available for June 4 — the opening date for Avengers Campus. Disneyland parkhopper reservations are also available for June 4 — allowing you to head over to DCA and Avengers Campus after 1 p.m. The new Marvel themed land has been nearly finished for the better part of a year, but put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As you might expect, ticket sales and advance reservations for Disneyland and DCA are extremely fluid. That means reservation dates can sell out at any time. Check the Disneyland reservation calendar for the latest availability.
Demand has been tremendous for Disneyland and DCA tickets and reservations for the first two months when the parks reopen after the extended coronavirus closures. Disneyland has throttled the reservation system in an attempt to avoid system crashes. The reservation window will stay open until all reservations are gone. That could take hours, days or weeks.

For those still in the virtual queue, be patient — no matter how much that is to ask. You are almost certainly going to get a reservation for one of the first 60 days the parks are open. And there’s still a good chance you can get the date you want — provided you’re not looking to visit on April 30, May 1 or June 4.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been closed since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. California theme parks were permitted to reopen on April 1. Disneyland and DCA will be among the last California theme parks to return on April 30. Knott’s Berry Farm will be bringing up the rear with passholders returning on May 6 and the general public welcomed back on May 21.
