CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Bratenahl mansion on the lakefront that former Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson sold in April fetched the highest price for any single-family home in Cuyahoga County so far this year.
Thompson, who now plays for the Boston Celtics, sold the 120 Lakehurst Drive home for $2.5 million. It is one of 29 houses, all in the county, that sold for at least $1 million between Jan. 1 and May 31, according to property records analyzed by cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer. While most involved a single parcel, some were sold in the same transaction with vacant pieces.
Of those homes, the eastern suburbs claimed the biggest chunk of them. Moreland Hills had five houses that sold for more than $1 million, the most of any municipality. Beachwood, Gates Mills, Hunting Valley and Pepper Pike each had three homes that sold for seven figures.
The housing market in the county has heated up significantly since last year. In suburban Cleveland, some of the biggest gains have been in mid-priced cities like Parma, South Euclid and North Olmsted.
Meanwhile, it’s harder to tell how the recent housing boom affected many of the cities where homes sold for more than $1 million, as substantially fewer homes sold in those places.
