Bob Sirott's former Wilmette home sold at foreclosure auction - Crain's Chicago Business

A house in Wilmette that Bob Sirott, the morning host on WGN Radio, lost in foreclosure earlier this year sold Dec. 16 in an online auction.

Sirott, a fixture on Chicago television and radio stations since 1971, and his wife, Marianne Murciano, gave up the house in a court-ordered foreclosure sale in February, according to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds.

The house, six-bedrooms and 5,000 square feet on Romona Road, went up for auction on October 19. Anthony Disano, the Parkvue Realty agent who represented the property for Deutsche Bank, said there were three competitive bids for the home on Xome, an auction site.

The winning bidder paid a little more than $1.08 million, in a transaction that closed Dec. 16.

Sirott did not immediately respond to a request for comment that Crain’s sent to WGN’s public relations person, Sara Tieman.

The sale price is $20,000 below what the house sold for in 1999. That sale was to a trust that conceals the owners’ names. Crain’s couldn’t confirm that Sirott and Murciano were the buyers at that time. They first show up in public records for the house in 2005.

In February 2018, Deutsche Bank began a foreclosure action against the homeowners, as Crain’s reported at the time. The amount of the mortgage is unclear in the recorder’s files. Two years later, Deutsche Bank received the deed to the property in a court-ordered sale.

Disano said the homeowners were out and the house vacant before he took the listing for Deutsche Bank.

Built in 1931 with a French façade that includes a carved shield over the front door, the house has a curving staircase in the foyer, large formal rooms, a fireplace in the primary bedroom and a stone terrace off the back. It’s on four-tenths of an acre.

Sirott started in broadcasting in 1971 at WBBM-FM, and over the decades since has done stints at several Chicago stations and made a brief foray into national broadcasting on the CBS newsmagazine West 57th in 1988. A year ago, he became the morning host at WGN Radio.

Murciano was a broadcaster in Miami before moving to Fox Chicago in 1993. In recent years, she has sometimes co-hosted with Sirott, including an earlier run at WGN Radio and then at WLS-AM 890.
