Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed Friday the Italian supercar maker is nearly sold out for the year, per Automotive News.
Speaking at the Milan Monza Motor Show in Italy, Winkelmann confirmed the brand has sold around 10 months of its production capacity for 2021. That means every Lamborghini built from now until the beginning of November (roughly 3100 cars) already has a buyer lined up waiting to take delivery.
The supercar maker, a subsidiary of VW Group, says deliveries have spiked by nearly 25 percent in the first quarter of 2021 as buyers emerge from quarantine ready to spend.
"Despite a two-month shutdown due to the pandemic, Lamborghini ended 2020 as its second-best year ever," Winkelmann said told Automotive News. The company sold 7430 cars last year, down roughly 9 percent from 2019.
Unsurprisingly, it was the 650-hp Urus SUV that's led sales in 2021 so far, with 1382 units moved from January to March. Following closely was the V-10-powered entry-level Huracán, with 753 models sold by the end of March. The aging Aventador rounded out the trio with 287 examples sold.
We suspect popularity for exotics like Lamborghini will only climb as more and more people transition back to normal life. Don't be surprised to hear the company sell out of production capacity for 2021 completely before the end of summer.
