Salem-based Roth’s Fresh Markets announced on Monday that it has acquired Vancouver retailer Chuck’s Produce and Street Market.

Chuck’s grocery stores, known for providing locally sourced food products in the Mill Plain and Salmon Creek communities, will keep its name and retain its staff, Roth’s said in a news release.

Roth’s Fresh Markets, a nine-grocery store chain with a large mid-Willamette Valley footprint, was purchased in October by the Pattison Food Group based in Vancouver, B.C.

Tim Jennings, president of Roth’s Food Markets, said the Canadian company’s acquisition of Roth’s stores has been beneficial to the chain, and he expects the same outcome for Chuck’s grocery stores.

However, the terms of the acquisition and the purchase amount were not immediately clear.

Chuck’s Produce and Street Market operates two locations in Vancouver’s Mill Plain and Salmon Creek communities.

Janet Orlob, spokesperson for Roth’s Fresh Markets, said the retailer has no further expansion plans.
