Thousands of utility knives sold at Target recalled because blade may stick out of package - PennLive

Blue Ridge utility knives sold only at Target have been recalled because the blade may be unlocked, allowing it to protrude through the package and hurt someone.

The 36,250 knives from Positec were sold at Target stores and online from August 2022 through February 2023 for about $5, according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The company said two people received cuts from the knives while they were still in the package.

The knife has a 6-inch retractable blade. The model number is BR922OU. The knife is silver with the Blue Ridge logo printed on it. The packaging is blue and teal with an orange-and-white mountain logo at the top.

People who bought the knives are asked to inspect the packaging “to determine whether the blade tip is protruding through the package. Carefully remove the knife from the packaging, avoiding the blade tip, and discard the packaging. To apply the repair, secure the knife by retracting and locking the knife in the closed position. Once the knife is removed from the packaging, the knife can be used in typical fashion.”

For more information, call Positec at 855-516-3557 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday; send an email to utilitykniferecall@blueridgetools.com; or click here.
