These 17 Pa. houses sold for at least $110,000 over asking price in 2020 - PennLive

rinwengi.blogspot.com

To say last year was a crazy one for the residential real estate market in Pennsylvania would be an understatement. Especially considering most real estate sales in Pennsylvania were prohibited for a period of time due to Gov. Tom Wolf’s COVID-19 shutdown of non-essential businesses.

Once the shutdown ended, real estate sales were reportedly off the charts, with more houses selling than in recent years and sales closing at a faster rate. And those two things haven’t slowed down.

To give you a small snapshot, the Greater Harrisburg Association of Relators released its December number for its coverage area of Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry Counties. In December 2020, there were 744 houses sold compared to 611 home in December 2019. The average home sold in that area was for $237,350, about $22k more than the previous December. And the average number of days that a house stayed on the market in December 2020 was 26 days compared to 46 days the previous year.

With such a competitive market, sometimes buyers have to go above the asking price to purchase a house.

The list below shows 17 times that houses sold for at least $110K over the asking price last year in Pennsylvania, according to our friends at Zillow.

Of the 17 homes, 14 are located in the Philadelphia area, with five in Montgomery County, three in Bucks County, two in Philadelphia County and two in Chester.
