When the Lower Allen Township Development Authority purchased the former Bon-Ton back in 2019 with intent to redevelop the site and make sure it didn’t remain vacant, the Bon-Ton wasn’t the only property it purchased.
First the former 140,000-square-foot former Bon-Ton store property also included a former 25,000-square-foot Borders store. But the site, which was owned by the Bon-Ton also included the Burger King, Bonefish Grill and Texas Roadhouse properties. All three of those restaurants remain open. Demolition of the two stores began on Nov. 6. 2019. The Burger King was previously sold.
And the development authority is no longer the owner of the 5,600-square-foot Bonefish Grill property at 3505 Gettysburg Road in Lower Allen Township. DKP Ventures LLC purchased the 1.92-acre site in Lower Allen Commons on Wednesday. Bonefish Grill recently extended its lease.
The development authority also sold a 2.02-acre pad to Springwood Hospitality, where the company has begun construction on a five-story, 124 guest room Springhill Suites by Marriott. Springwood paid $2.750 million on August 20. The hotel is expected to be completed by July.

The new hotel is also next to the soon to be completed retail center that will include Sports Clips and The Good Feet Store. And it will also include the region’s first Trader Joe’s. The authority announced in June that the California chain, known for its dedicated shoppers and healthy foods sold at affordable prices, would be opening at the site. The store is expected to open early next year.
There are two additional pad sites that will be developed for retail uses and are being marketed by Campbell Commercial Real Estate. Art Campbell, Larry Kostelac, and Jessica Gasper of Campbell Commercial Real Estate, Inc. handled the transaction and marketing of the center.
