At the time of publication, reservations for Wednesday, Dec. 1 were still available for visitors wishing to purchase daily tickets — but daily ticket reservations for Dec. 2-31 were sold out.

Magic Key annual passholder reservations were sold out for Dec. 1-31 at the time of publication.

Disneyland fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Christmas decor at the Anaheim theme parks still have a chance with the holiday celebrations stretching through Jan. 9. Reservations were still available Jan. 2-9 for daily tickets, but Magic Key reservations were unavailable through Jan. 9 at the time of publication.

The daily ticket and Magic Key online calendars are dynamic and constantly changing — which means unavailable reservations can become available again at any time.

The winter holidays have always been a busy time with Disneyland often forced to shut its gates between Christmas and New Year’s and redirect visitors to Disney California Adventure before the COVID-19 pandemic. That scenario is unlikely to play out the same way this year with the introduction of reservation requirements for both parks.

The result of the Disneyland reservation system has been to spread out demand from the busy week between Christmas and New Year’s to all of December and into early January.

Disneyland and DCA continue to operate under limited attendance capacity during the phased reopening of the parks following a 412-day coronavirus closure.

Disneyland is managing attendance by leveraging its theme park reservation system that requires advance reservations for Magic Key holders and day guests to help provide a great guest experience for all and spread out visitation, according to Disney officials.

Magic Key holders reserve dates from a separate theme park reservation inventory and access calendar than regular day visitors. Disneyland encourages Magic Key passholders to cancel reservations as soon as they realize they aren’t going to use them — freeing up reservations for other keyholders.

Reservation scarcity has infuriated annual passholders accustomed to relatively unfettered access to the parks before the pandemic and the introduction of the new Magic Key program. Magic Key reservations have been unavailable for weeks at a time with additional availability pulsed onto calendars at random intervals.

Disneyland ended its former four-decade-old annual pass program in January during the extended coronavirus closures of the parks. The new Magic Key annual passes went on sale in August with prices ranging from $1,399 with no blockout dates to $399 with the most blockout dates.

Disneyland has sold out of the two most expensive Magic Keys — the $1,399 Dream Key and $949 Believe Key. The $649 Enchant Key and $399 Imagine Key are still available — for now. Disneyland officials said they will continue to monitor the Enchant and Imagine Keys and make adjustments as needed.
