ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) - A man has been arrested following months-long investigations into cocaine being sold out of a Rock Hill, S.C. bar.

A report with the York County Sheriff’s Office revealed that on Sept. 21, 2021, Adam Michael Perlowich allegedly sold two grams of cocaine to a man while at Tattooed Brews on 120 E. Main St.

He is the husband of the bar’s owner. The restaurant is very popular.

”Probably one of the hardest working guys in Rock Hill,” says friend Mark Smith. ”Yeah it’s a surprise to me for sure. I mean everything I’ve known of him has been super kind guy, give you the shirt of his back.”

Smith says he has known Perlowich for five years. He says he saw the restaurant before it “even had floors in it.” He has not known Perlowich as anything other than a jack of all trades at the restaurant.

”I mean anything that needed to be done. Mopping floors. Cooking food. Pouring beer. Whatever that needed to be done,” he says.

Perlowich was arrested and charged with distribution of cocaine first and possession with intent to distribute cocaine proximity to park.

A few months later, on Jan. 13, 2022, officers with the Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting another investigation and said Perlowich distributed another three grams of cocaine to another individual while at the restaurant.

Warrants of distribution of cocaine (two counts) and distribution cocaine proximity to park (two counts) were issued against him.

“It’s kind of strange that right here in the downtown area, in the open, that someone would be trying to sell drugs,” says Trevor Thompson.

Trevor Thompson lives in the Rock Hill area and visits downtown often. To him, this news was a shock.

“It is disturbing,” he explains. “And it’s ridiculous that people would try to do stuff like that right here in the public.”

A third investigation took place on June 21. Investigators say they found Perlowich at his home. He was arrested for the previous counts issued in January.

While at his home, the investigators reported they found marijuana in plain view. A search warrant turned up approximately 147.5 grams of THC edibles/marijuana, approximately .5 grams of cocaine, approximately 3.7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a stolen pistol and a sawed-off shotgun.

He then received the following charges:

  • PWID THC/marijuana 1st offense
  • PWID proximity to a park
  • Possession of psilocybin mushrooms
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of sawed-off shotgun
  • Possession of stolen handgun

Thompson aims to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and wants to wait to see it play out in court.

”If they’re really guilty, I’m happy that the cops got them because that should send a message,” says Thompson.

Perlowich’s lawyer sent a statement about the arrest and charges to WBTV. It reads as follows:

I represent Mr. Perlowich in this case, along with my partner Michael Brown, Jr.  We are very curious why law enforcement would wait almost a year to prosecute these charges. If they thought he was some sort of danger to the community, we would think that they would’ve acted quicker.

The truth is that Mr. Perlowich is not a danger to the community and he denies these charges. Under our law Mr. Perlowich is presumed to be innocent of his charges. Our office will be conducting its own independent investigation. Please contact us at MLB LAW at 803-328-8822 if you have any further information.

Perlowich was previously arrested in 2014 after allegedly huffing keyboard cleaner and passing a stopped school bus. In Florida, court records show two felonies—obtaining or attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and trafficking in illegal drugs.
