CLEVELAND, Ohio — The pursuit of a world record Powerball jackpot ended Tuesday, with a single ticket sold in California hitting the winning numbers for a jackpot estimated at $2.04 billion.
Meanwhile, a ticket sold at a GetGo gas station on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood matched five numbers without the Powerball and is worth $1 million. It was one of at least 22 tickets from across the nation that matched five numbers.
The winning numbers from the Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, drawing are 10-33-41-47-56 Powerball 10 Power Play 2x. The drawing was delayed for about 10 hours because of technical issues and the winning numbers were selected until Tuesday morning.
The overall jackpot-winning ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, Calif., which is northeast of Los Angeles. Business owner Joe Chahayed received a Powerball bonus of $1 million for selling the winning ticket.
“I’m very surprised. Very excited. Very happy,” Chahayed said Tuesday, adding that he didn’t know who won the giant prize but hopes it’s someone local.
“I wish I knew the person but most people who buy tickets from me are from the neighborhood. I hope one of them will be the winner,” he said.
A ticket sold in Florida matched five numbers with the PowerPlay and is worth $2 million.
