The three major stock indexes are in the green, but energy is having a tough day.
The S&P 500, up 0.8% on Thursday, was being lifted by 10 of its 11 sectors, especially information technology. Semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices and Google-parent Alphabet were up 9.7% and 5.5%, respectively.
Energy, down 0.7% on average, was the only laggard. Oil explorers Halliburton Company and Schlumberger were in the dog house.
Oil fell. West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. standard, was down 0.1% at $69.35 a barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, was down 0.1% as well.
