Bayonne hits the trifecta.
While the the future remains uncertain amid COVID-19, Bayonne is experiencing a lucky streak when it comes to selling winning lottery tickets.
One ticket matched all six numbers for the August 10, Pick-6 drawing, nettiing the $4.9 million annuity jackpot, with a cash value of more than $4.3 million.
The ticket was sold at S. Yellow Rose on 375 Kennedy Blvd. The retailer will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling that ticket.
The numbers were: 03, 04, 17, 23, 28, and 45. The XTRA Multiplier was: 02. The jackpot has reset to $2 million.
This marks the third time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that a winning lottery ticket has been sold in Bayonne
Mega Millions jackpot
The Mega Millions jackpot winning ticket was drawn on July 24.
New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James A. Carey, Jr. congratulated Brenda’s Inc. on 110 Kennedy Blvd. in Bayonne, the retailer that sold this winning ticket.
The numbers were: 08, 33, 39, 54, and 58. The Gold Mega Ball was 17, and the Megaplier was 03. The winner will receive an estimated $124,000,000 annuity or $100,800,000 in cash.
The winner has one year from the date of the drawing to file a claim.
Eighteen other players matched four of the five white balls, making each ticket worth $500. Two of those tickets were purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prize to $1,500. 23,995 other New Jersey players took home $103,222 in prizes, ranging from $2 to $600, according to Carey.
“Congratulations, to the winner of this multi-million-dollar jackpot!” Carey said. “We encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket, make a copy of both sides, put it in a safe place, and contact Lottery Headquarters at 609-599-5875 to arrange to file a claim for this ‘MEGA’ jackpot prize.”
According to the New Jersey Lottery, the retailer won a bonus commission check of $30,000.
More than $400,000 in winnings
On April 28, a winning lottery ticket for more than $480,000 was sold in Bayonne.
The ticket was purchased at a bodega as part of the Jersey Cash 5 with Xtra lottery drawing.
The ticket matched all five numbers for a take of $487,125.
The numbers were: 08, 12, 21, 36, and 40, and the XTRA number was 02. The ticket did not match the Xtra number, which would have doubled the winnings.
That ticket was sold at Bayonne News, 566 Avenue C. The retailer will receive a bonus check for $2,000.
