AKRON, Ohio - Tuesday Musical is adding more concerts to its Music al fresco: Passport 2020, a trio of socially distanced world-music concerts on the historic Barder House's front lawn.

The recently announced one-hour concerts sold out all of the 3 p.m. performances on Sundays in September and October. But executive director Cyndee Snider said Monday that 1 p.m. shows will be added. Tickets for those shows should be available beginning Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 25.

Patrons can pack a lawn chair, blanket or picnic and hear music with roots in Russia, Paris, Africa and the Caribbean.

Attendance will be capped, and patrons must bring their own seating. Masks will be required except when patrons are seated, and areas for no more than four people each will be spaced at least 10 feet apart.

Tickets - which must be purchased online in advance or by calling 330-761-3460 - are $20 ($50 for all three).

Russian Duo: Balalaika and Piano: Sept. 6 (rain date: Sept. 13). Oleg Kruglyakov is a balalaika virtuoso from Siberia, and Terry Boyarsky is an American concert pianist. The concert will cover Russian culture with humorous pieces, virtuoso variations, dance music, rhythmic folk songs and lyrical romances.

Black Squirrel Winds: Parisian Promenade: Sept. 20 (rain date: Sept. 27). Attendees will be guided through an afternoon stroll in Paris with works by French composers. Kent State University’s faculty wind quintet will perform.

Found Sounds: Ghana, Trinidad, Brazil: Oct. 4 (rain date: Oct. 11). Percussionists Matt Dudack, Tom Roblee and Peter Loferski will perform music from Africa to the Caribbean.

The Barder House - a 1919 Georgian Revival residence on the National Register of Historic Places - is at 1041 W. Market St., Akron. It was home for many years to Bryon Barder, president and general manager of Biggs Boiler Works Co., which was founded in 1887 - the same year Tuesday Musical began.

Tuesday Musical curates a range of concerts and community-engagement programs throughout Northeast Ohio.
