Warning! Spoilers ahead for Suicide Squad #8

Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's Suicide Squad is nearing its end, as the Squad prepares to destroy the Task Force X program for good along with its new owner as well. A recent hostile takeover occurred, forcing longtime director Amanda Waller out of the program and putting the government-run program under new management.

However, the Squad now knows who's pulling the strings, and why the program has been forced to operate in such an erratic manner: Task Force X was sold by the U.S government to a third party, who's using the Suicide Squad for his own ends and goals, just one piece in a much larger machine. Learning who said third party is, the Squad plans their attack in this new issue, ready to put a bullet in the head of none other than Ted Kord.

The Squad learns of Ted Kord's overall plan in this issue, and it involves creating his own instant empire, taking control over the country of Badhnisia. After Kord convinced the government to sell Task Force X to him, he then sold submarines to Australia, asking them to take their first voyage to the South China seas to progress the destabilization of the region. This is because Kord is trying to desperately to stake his claim on what's under the country: a massively huge and insanely valuable oil reserve. It's also why he tried to rig an election in the region as well.

Kord has failed to start a war, and he's also failed at rigging an election in the country with a president who would be in his pocket. When Harley wonders why he doesn't just get rid of the country, Deadshot realizes what Kord is planning to do next, and it won't be pretty. Kord is going to use Lola, and extremely explosive teen that fell into Waller's possession (and now his), to blow up the entire country and take the oil for himself no matter how many casualties lie in his wake in his bid for massive fortune and power.

The Suicide Squad is going to have to act fast if they want to stop Kord in time, as the issue ends with him revealing that he plans to blow up the country the next day. This mission might be one of the most important ones the Squad has ever attempted, made even more significant now that it's of their own free will. Deadshot specifically is more than willing to end Task Force X and Kord, as he won't be able to find peace with his family until they're gone. However, fans already know that this mission is going to be Deadshot's last, as it will be fatal for the longtime Squad member. DC Comics has been teasing his death for a while now. Hopefully, Deadshot's last mission with the Suicide Squad will be a successful one, and he can least go out on a high note by doing some good in the world.
