You may way to check your refrigerator. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has linked a multi-state outbreak of Salmonella affecting nearly 400 people to red onions originating from a California producer and sold nationwide.

According to the FDA, the outbreak of Salmonella Newport resulting in nearly 400 cases of illness has been traced to red onions sold by Thomson International, Inc. of Bakersfield, California. Onions were distributed to wholesalers, restaurants and retail stores in all 50 states, D.C. and Canada.

The onions were sold in 5 lbs. carton, 10 lbs. carton, 25 lbs. carton, 40 lbs. carton, 50 lbs. carton, bulk, 2 lb. mesh sacks, 3 lb. mesh sacks, 5 lb. mesh sacks, 10 lb. mesh sacks 25 lbs. mesh sacks, and 50 lbs. mesh sacks under the following brand names:
