In July, the iconic one-story home flashed during The Golden Girls’ first season had been put on the market for $2,999,000 with Douglas Elliman real estate. According to Douglas Elliman, the estate was sold on Friday for $4,000,260 — which is more than one million dollars over the asking price. The buyer has not yet been identified but is said to not be someone in the public spotlight.

Rachelle Rosten, who held the listing, was able to elaborate on the sale. "The buyers are not fans of the show. To my knowledge, they’ve never watched the show," she tells House Beautiful. But what drew them, whom she describes as a family with kids, to the home was the architecture and location.

She explains that the property amassed a huge amount of interest. In fact, there were 20 offers put down within the last month, and almost half of them were all-cash non-contingent. "There were people who loved the house, there were people who loved the lot and/or location, and there were people who loved the show," she says when describing her offer pool. Because so much interest was expressed in the property, the buyers upped their offer (by exactly $1,001,260 over the asking price) to make sure they secured the four-bedroom home.

"The architecture of the home was amazing and because it was untouched for 65 years, it was just really unspoiled, and it was just really beautiful," she says. Not to mention the property is located at 245 N Saltair Ave, to be exact, which she explains is a "super desirable location," in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. (As a refresher, despite the Golden Girls storyline being based in Miami, Florida, the yellow midcentury modern home flashed during the opening credits was actually located in California).

Prior to the home going on the market, fans were only able to admire it by driving or walking by; the interiors had never been shown before. Fortunately, the listing gave fans their first ever-look at the inside of this famed TV home. The property, which was remarkably stunning, boasted a unique style inside. It was unexpected in the best way possible.

Throughout the home, you'll find subtle nods to Japanese and Hawaiian culture. As it turns out, the property was custom-built in 1955 by a Hawaiian modern architect. The owners had family in Honolulu and wanted to bring some of that flair into their new home. Here's a peek inside!

The charming, 2,901 square-foot, four-bedroom home features a veranda connects the living room to the backyard as well as ultra-high beamed ceilings with floor to ceiling windows.
