Brooklyn Real Estate Six Months Later: Three Sold, One Still Available - Brownstoner

rinwengi.blogspot.com

This week, our look at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Cypress Hills, Park Slope, Bay Ridge and Ditmas Park West. How did they fare?

First up, this modest brick row house in Cypress Hills offers a bit of early 20th century style and a location across from the open space of Highland Park. Inside, the house has a living room, dining and kitchen on the first floor and three bedrooms and a full bath above. The fairly open first floor still has parquet, a foyer with an original glass-doored closet, and a stair with moldings and newel post intact. The petite rear yard is paved and enclosed with a low brick wall and has room for some potted plants. This former House of the Day sold in February for the asking price of $575,000.

In the Park Slope Historic District, a one-bedroom apartment offers broad views from its 11th floor perch along with a marble-adorned kitchen designed for its food columnist owner. It’s set in a 1920s neo-Gothic tower located across from Grand Army Plaza. The unit has been renovated since Brownstoner featured it back in 2013, but there are still some period details to be found, including parquet floors, beamed ceilings, picture rails and at least one arched doorway. Entered off a small foyer, it has a living room and kitchen at one end and a single bedroom at the other. This former Co-op of the Day sold in April for $840,000, which was $10,000 below the asking price.

With an interior rich with woodwork, built-ins and plasterwork, this next one, an early 20th century row house in Bay Ridge, has plenty of original details to offer. Located a short walk away from the green space of Owl’s Head Park, the brick single-family has a parlor set into its bowed front along with a center stair, formal dining room and kitchen. The parlor boasts a pier mirror along with a picture rail with plaster ornament above. An electric fireplace is a more recent addition. The kitchen isn’t pictured in the photos but the floor plan shows that it’s entered through a butler’s pantry that the listing notes is original. Upstairs are four bedrooms, the largest at the front with three closets and windows in the bowed front. This former House of the Day sold in March for $1.26 million, which was $15,000 above the asking price.

Finally, on Stratford Road in the Flatbush micro nabe of Ditmas Park West, this early 20th century standalone offers an abundance of bedrooms along with the perk of a garage. It hasn’t changed hands since the 1980s so there is room for some stylistic updates but there’s original woodwork, wood floors, stained glass and a mantel with original tile surround and brass insert. This former Open House Pick is still available for the asking price of $1.685 million.
