CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois volleyball celebrated its Stuff Huff and Pink Match promotions in front of a sold out Huff Hall on Saturday night as 4,152 fans packed the stands. The Illini would drop the three-set decision to No. 3 Nebraska as a late rally came up short.

Saturday's sellout is the first in Huff Hall since the 2019 edition of Stuff Huff when 4,152 fans packed the facility. Since Huff Hall's capacity was adjusted to 4,152 in the spring of 2016 following renovations, Illinois volleyball has reached that mark six times including Saturday's sellout against Nebraska.

Illinois is now 9-11 on the season with a 4-6 reading in Big Ten outings. Nebraska improved to 18-1 overall and 10-0 in Big Ten play with its sixth-straight sweep of a conference opponent.

Nebraska scored the first point of the night before Illinois equaled the Huskers on four occasions early in the opening frame. The Illini called the first timeout of the set trailing 12-6, which would extend to 16-10. From there, the Orange and Blue produced a 3-0 run to spark a Husker timeout. Out of the break, Nebraska recorded a 7-0 run to push ahead to a 23-13 advantage before taking the 25-14 decision.

Sets two and three saw Illinois score first. Raina Terry opened the second stanza with a kill – one of her match-high 13 on the night. The Huskers would need just one lead change in the frame, which came following the 3-3 tie. Terry tallied kills for Illinois' first four points of the set. The Illini trailed 15-10 when the media timeout hit and would call for a stoppage of their own four points later, trailing 18-11. Kennedy Collins and Brooke Mosher registered a block out of the break to get the Illini fans going. Terry would add another kill late in the frame for her 10th of the match, but Nebraska would claim the set, 25-16.

In her limited serving role, Jessica Nunge continues to make her presence felt as the Illini senior tallied back-to-back aces to open set three for a 2-0 Illinois lead. Nebraska would take the lead for good following a 4-4 tie and push its margin as large as six points. However, the Illini would continue to fight and were within two points for much of the late part of the set. Kayla Burbage took two big swings for the Illini as a pair of kills would pull the Orange and Blue within two at 23-21 and 24-22. Nebraska would ultimately earn the sweep with a kill on the next point for the 25-22 decision.

Terry registered a match-best 13 kills on 32 swings while adding six digs, a block and an ace. Burbage finished with six kills along with six digs and a couple blocks.

Collins tallied five kills on seven swings for a .571 efficiency while adding a match-high five blocks.

Diana Brown would come a single dig shy of a double-double outing, as she finished with 24 assists and nine digs on the night. Caroline Barnes would add five digs and a couple assists from her libero position.

Illinois volleyball will remain at home for its next match as Penn State comes to town on Wednesday, Oct. 26, for the Orange and Blue's sixth outing in Huff Hall of the season. The match will air on Big Ten Network with first serve going up at 6 p.m. CT.
