A Palm Springs home once owned by televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker has sold for $2 million, down 9% from its asking price. It initially listed in March for $2.2 million.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom Spanish Colonial-style home on nearly 1 acre in the Movie Colony neighborhood was built in 1937.  Archival news reports show the Bakkers bought the house in 1984 for $600,000 and sold it in 1987 for the same amount.

Within the home’s 4,097 square feet is a central freestanding two-way kiva fireplace in the living room, as well as wood-beamed ceilings, rounded archways and Spanish tile floors.

Decorative and solid-color tilework graces the kitchen and bathrooms.

Other features include a one-bedroom casita, rooftop deck and swimming pool.

Louise Hampton of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties was the listing agent. TTK Represents of Compass represented the buyer.

The former mid-century modern Palm Springs home of Oscar-winning actress Loretta Young has found a buyer for $1.15 million. That’s down 22% from its original asking price of $1.475 million in October 2019.

The three-bedroom,  four-bathroom house in Deepwell Estates was designed by architect Bill Dody in 1964 and later updated. Property records show Young and Oscar-winning costume designer husband Jean Louis Berthault purchased the house in 1993 for $320,000.

Berthault died in 1997 at age 89.

Young, whose brief affair with Clark Gable resulted in a secret love child she raised under the guise of an adopted daughter, owned the house until her death in 2000 at 87.

The stunning residence features a pair of bronze double-entry doors to a Terrazo bridge that crosses a koi pond into the circular living room, which features a backlit sculptural sunburst pattern on the ceiling.

Walls of glass bring the indoors out throughout the house, including the master bathroom. It offers access to a private outdoor pond and waterfall with steps to an outdoor shower.

Other outdoor features include a swimming pool and a private spa, set in a tropical garden.

Randy Roy of Macoy Capital Partners held the listing. Larry Griffith of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented the buyer.

The updated atomic ranch marketed as “Walt Disney’s Technicolor Dream House” has sold for the asking price of $1.095 million.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence on a quarter-acre lot in Indian Canyons was built for Walt and Lillian Disney in 1962, and it remained in the family until 2015.

Features of the 2,443-square-foot house include an open floor plan with living and dining areas that flow into the kitchen, mirror surfaces and some “hidden Mickeys.”

Sliding glass doors open to a covered patio, swimming pool, spa and lawn area at the rear of the property, which overlooks the second fairway at Indian Canyons Golf Resort North Course.

Michael Erives and Darcey Deetz of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate shared the listing, and Erives represented the buyer.
