DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - Just under a month ahead of Grandma’s Marathon, many of their races are sold out.
As they return to full capacity for the first time since 2019, the full marathon and 5K races are completely sold out. The full marathon only has around 75 spots left, as they also near capacity.
“Kind of excited to see what some of those changes that we had for last years race modified half capacity field, how they work for this full field and 20 thousand runners, plus what another 20 or 30 thousand spectators and volunteers, there’s going to be a lot of people in town,” said marketing and public relations director Zach Schneider.
“We’re excited to see how some of those changes translate to now a full capacity year. As always, the community and our business partners, our longtime volunteers have come through for us, and we’re looking good for next month.”
They are also expecting many of the same elite runners they have hosted in the past to return to the field. Former champions Milton Rotich, Elisha Barno, and Boniface “Bones” Kongin will be running in the elite field.
