Although there was no jackpot winner Saturday, there were four $150,000 winning Powerball tickets sold at the same Cape Cod store.
The tickets were all sold at Quick Mart in South Yarmouth.
Multiple winning tickets sold at the same store isn’t uncommon as lottery players sometimes buy multiple tickets with the same number, the Massachusetts State Lottery said.
If one ticket wins, they all win.
The lottery, however, does keep track of likely fraudulent winners.
In August, a father and his two sons were accused of $21 million in fraud after cashing in 13,000 Massachusetts lottery tickets. A dozen individuals and three stores in Boston, North Reading and Chelsea that were indicted on charges of a “ten-percenting” scheme in October. And a Boston Police officer agreed to plead guilty to a tax charge after selling a $10,000 winning lottery ticket to a convenience store owner for cash and not reporting it on his taxes.
The lottery’s compliance team has also denied over 120 improper claims and is continuing to review even more.
Overall, there were nearly 1,000 winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 claimed or sold Friday, Saturday and Sunday, including 27 in Springfield and 16 in Worcester.
The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of all the winning tickets each day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.
The largest prize won so far this year in Massachusetts was for $15 million.
The prize was claimed by the P.M. Investment Trust of Fall River, which was represented by trustee Joseph H. Silvia. Silvia was then presented with a check for $6,922,500.
