U.S. stock markets will be closed Monday in honor of Juneteenth

In recognition of the federal holiday, the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close at 4 p.m. Eastern on Friday and reopen for the regular trading session at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The U.S. bond market will also close for the holiday.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It's one of the 10 official U.S. stock market holidays, and the first federal holiday approved since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983. The next federal holiday will be Independence Day, with markets closing early on July 3 and reopening on July 5.
