Virgin Galactic Stock Soars as Company Readies for First Commercial Space Flight
Virgin Galactic (SPCE)'s shares are rocketing after the company said it was days away from sending its first commercial flight into space, following years of delays.
Galactic 01 is due to fly between June 27 to June 30, carrying a team of three Italian researchers, Virgin Galactic said. After that, it expects to start monthly flights from early August. Private astronauts will pay $450,000 to fly.
Virgin Galactic stock was up over 15% to $4.67 a share in late afternoon trading, after giving back some of its gains from earlier in the day.
