HOBOKEN, NJ — Someone new is taking the reins at the Nag's Head.
Since 1998, the beloved local favorite has served Hoboken. Owner Barney Finnegan and his wife Ruth have announced the sale of the bar at 359 First Street.
"Thank you to the lovely Nag's Head community including all those patrons that have come and gone over the years! It has been an honor to serve you over the last twenty two years," reads a post on social media. "We also want to extend our gratitude to our incredible staff."
The good news is that they're leaving the hospitality business behind on their own terms.
"We have sold the bar and we are starting a new phase in our lives-retirement! We have had many good memories with you all and we will miss your friendly faces. Best of luck to you as you continue to move through this uncertain time. We wish the new owners the best of luck and hope you'll stop in to visit them! Slainte 🍻"
Hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, the bar reopened a month to the day after the Superstorm swept into town—serving as a stout example of the resilience and spirit shown by Hoboken during those challenging days.
Nag's Head will be missed. What we wouldn't give for one more pint...
