WeWork shares were halted pending news ahead of the opening bell Monday.

The company is likely to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as soon as this week, the Wall Street Journal reported a few days ago.

The New York-based desk-leasing giant has lost more than $16 billion since its founding in 2010. It has been burning through its remaining cash amid an unforgiving office market.
