The most expensive homes sold during July in Houston feature several new or recently built homes and a midcentury mansion in Tanglewood that had been owned by the DeMontrond family, owner of more than a dozen regional auto dealerships. Many of the month's priciest homes include extravagant outdoor spaces with refrigerators, a summer kitchen and — though not needed now — a fireplace.

No. 1: 1923 Olympia Drive

List Price: $5.9 million
Sold price range: $5,081,001 to $5,864,000
4 bedrooms, 5 full baths and 2 half-bathrooms
Unique features:  Prior owners purchased this River Oaks home in 2020 after it was only on the market for five days for between $4.418 million to $5.08 million, according to Houston Association of Realtors and Harris County records. The 7,400-square-foot home was renovated in 2021 with a new roof, new kitchen and downstairs utility room and then sold last month.

List price: $5.4 million
